Desert Raisins was established with the aim to produce a variety of products of exceptional quality, an ambition on which we gladly deliver. In our quest to create an international niche market for our sought-after raisins, we’ve dedicated ourselves to raising them right in a specialised area of South Africa where the species may not have been born, but where they can grow to maximise their potential and fulfil their delicious destiny.
Situated in Kanoneiland in the Northern Cape along the banks of the Orange River, our grapes are cultivated in a perfect semi-desert climate, where extreme high temperatures during summer and equally cold temperatures in winter combine to bring out the very best in our fruit. As one of our farmers pithily put it, “They should have their feet moistly planted in the Earth and their heads halfway into hell.” Tempered by blazing heat that would make farming with different cultivars of fruit an impossibility, our raisins emerge on the other side as specimens that are widely considered to be some of the best in the entire world. Quite a large feat for such tiny titbits of tastiness.

We also comply with all Ethical, Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Management Legislation and standards in South Africa. We are audited by external parties and secondary suppliers along these requirements on an ongoing basis.
