The technique of drying fruit was likely discovered by accident. It’s conceivable that our ancestors came upon fallen fruit, which had dried in the sun, and discovered its sweetness after tasting it.

As early as 1490 B.C., grapes were sun-dried into raisins. Several hundred years passed before it was determined which variety of grapes would make the best raisins.

Evidence of their production has been found in the writings of ancient Egyptians and Persians. Early Greeks and Romans adorned places of worship with them, and raisins were even awarded as prizes in sporting events.

At Desert Raisins, we may not have invented how to grow them, but we’ve certainly perfected the craft of raising (and processing) our raisins right.

Our well-trained staff ensures that all products are fumigated, cleaned by a supervac, thoroughly washed, laser sorted (using advanced Torma sorting technology), X-ray sorted and metal detected as a commitment to operational excellence regarding the packing, processing and delivery of our products. We have an established BRC Food Safety System, which is globally recognized.  Our plant has a processing capacity of 15,000 tons per annum and we apply continuous improvement principles to keep abreast with changing customer demands.
